Primarily, the Senior Packaging Retoucher position is to work as an integral member of the wider team to create gold standard, repro-ready artwork images, honouring design vision to achieve the best result in the final production.

Whilst accuracy and thoroughness are key components of the Senior Retouchers role, it must be coupled with an inquisitive nature, a keenness to problem solve and an ability to react to time sensitive challenges with positivity and a can-do attitude.

Alongside the digital nature of the work, good verbal communication skills are a must to navigate projects on an advisory basis, guiding and suggesting the best course of action to get the best results.

An eye for all things creative and an excellent understanding of colour within production perimeters. A good Retoucher must be creative, and be confident to share opinions that deliver both technically and with aesthetic quality.

Responsibilities

• Translate creative concepts into polished, print-ready artwork images, maintaining the highest standards of quality.
• Demonstrate a keen eye for all things creative, coupled with an excellent understanding of packaging artwork and print processes.

• Utilise good verbal communication skills to navigate projects on an advisory basis, guiding and suggesting the best course of action for optimal execution and process outcomes.
• Share opinions on both technical and aesthetic quality, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Show ambition to learn and explore innovative solutions, staying at the cutting edge of the packaging design world.
• Guide the CS team on retouching requirements, flagging constraints that may impact project delivery timelines.
• Support in the review of design work, considering production parameters, and advise designers by offering solutions to challenges.
• Maintain a positive, supportive, and calming influence in the production team, with a professional and constructive attitude.
• Oversight of freelance workstreams and junior retouchers.

Experience/Skills Necessary

• Accomplished at producing captivating print ready images as a Senior Packaging Retoucher or in a similar role at a pack design / repro agency
• Essential experience in FMCG packaging experience including large range adaptive rollouts projects.
• Photoshop wizardry is a must. Fluency in illustrator and other Adobe Creative packages is highly beneficial.
• A proven track record of understanding packaging print processes and an ability to produce faultless colour separations (DCS) and managing proofs.
• Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
• Excellent communication and collaborative mindset, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
